MMA Betting
The UFC “Ultimate Fighting Championship” has emerged as a very prominent sport not only in the United States, but also in the world. UFC is a mixed martial arts (MMA) event that features several rights, in the same venue, in the same night. The UFC usually has fights for heavyweight, welterweight, lightweight and middleweight. There are also several other fights on the “preliminary card” the night of an event.
MMA Wager Types
There is not a ton of wagering options for UFC events. The main option available for every fight, is the money line option. Since the fights are not scored, there is no run line or points. With the money line, there is a favorite in the fight, and then an underdog. For example, a line may look like this: Fighter A (-200), Fighter B (+250). In this example, you may select either fighter, with Fighter A being the favorite and Fighter B being the underdog. If you select Fighter A, and if he wins, you would have to be $200 to win $100. Since that fighter is expected to win, you will not be rewarded as much. If you wager on Fighter B, and he wins, you would win +250 of your initial bet. If you wagered $100, you would win an additional $250.
Advice
Several things when betting on the Ultimate Fighting Championship you need to know. First of all, make sure you are getting the very best odds that are available. Many places will set odds, but they may vary a bit. Find the best odds and take advantage of them. Often times, it pays off to wait until closer to fight, to garner all the possible information regarding the fight. Remember, the odds makers will also garner all the information, plus more, so their odds will reflect that. Once you have made your wager, your odds cannot change, so there is a bonus to grabbing it early as well.
Also, be sure to know the fighters. If you are going to be a serious UFC bettor, know all the information you need to know about each fighter. Know their fight style, and how they have fared against other fighters that are similar to their opponent. With how violent UFC is, be sure to get tuned in on any possible injury report. A small injury could make a big deal in a UFC fight.
Lastly, limit your bets. There is no such thing when two human beings get together in a fight with very little rules. You may think you know both fighters, and one may look like a lock, but don’t overdo it. If you are in the UFC betting to make money, find a limit, then find a middle ground, and lastly find a minimum bet. Use this three-tier system for your bets, on how well you like the fight. Many bettors love the underdogs, because they
garner more money, but don’t just jump right on a fighter, because he is an underdog.
